What causes psoriasis?
Dr. Pagano works on the principle that the primary underlying cause of psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis is a toxic buildup within the body due, in many cases, to a leaky gut. The toxins "leak" into the blood circulatory system through compromised intestinal walls.
Is diet important? All the dermatologists insist that diet has nothing to do with psoriasis.
Not only is diet important, but it is the MOST IMPORTANT measure in healing psoriasis. Dr. Pagano has never been able to help a psoriasis patient who did not understand the psoriasis diet and follow through on it. For those who understood and followed it, miracles have occurred! What is it about diet? How strict must I be with it? Can I cheat?
The psoriasis diet requires intake of high alkaline, low acidic foods. This is crucial. The daily diet should consist of 70-80% alkaline formers (fruits and vegetables) to 20-30% acid formers (meats and grains). These guidelines are clearly spelled out in Dr. Pagano's books. How long will it take for me to clear up?
Each person responds according to his own body chemistry, but typically the time for a patient who is absolutely faithful to the psoriasis diet averages between three and six months from start to end of treatment. Some heal more quickly, some take longer. Most everyone has the potential to be healed. It all depends on three things: 1) Diet, 2) Detoxification, and 3) Determination. If one of these components is missing, it will not work. The patient must be willing to take responsibility for his own natural psoriasis treatment. Do I have to stay on the psoriasis diet all my life?
No, not necessarily. Once you are cleared and your skin is beautifully regenerated, it is advisable to stay on the psoriasis diet an extra three months to insure proper healing within. But, if this regimen proves to be successful, you will never fear the disease again. What are the best oils or salves I can put on it?
The best external applications for psoriasis treatment are a 50/50 mixture of olive oil and peanut oil, or castor oil for thick psoriasis lesions; Aloe Vera gel, or a good moisturizer containing Aloe Vera; Hydrophilic ointment, Cuticura ointment; Vitamin E moisturizer; Aquaphor; Aveeno moisturizer. Natural sunlight and clear ocean salt water are helpful, but avoid sunburn! All of the above can be helpful, but the real healing takes place from within. What role do the teas have in healing this disease?
The recommended herbal teas each have their own purpose. The American Yellow Saffron Tea acts as an internal antiseptic and helps purify the entire alimentary canal. The Slippery Elm Bark Powder coats the lining of the intestinal tract allowing the compromised wall of the intestines to heal. (This is known as the Leaky Gut Syndrome). Other effective supplements are Omega 3 Fish Oils and Flax oil. [The teas are not to be used if you are pregnant of anticipating pregnancy.] What does the spine have to do with it? Why the spinal adjustments?
Every system, organ, and cell of the human body must have a healthy nerve supply. When the normal impulse of nerve energy is depleted or absent, that particular organ or cell degenerates and eventually breaks down. Spinal adjustments, be they chiropractic or osteopathic, help the stimulating or regenerating process to insure proper nerve supply in reaching the vital organs, and they stimulate the entire immune system. What do you mean by "right thinking"?
By "right thinking" you use your mental powers to help you conquer the disease. Keep your mind fixed on the healing of the disease - and not on the psoriasis itself. This means maintaining a positive attitude at all times, and also means visualizing yourself free of the disease. Think health, not disease! Where can I get the supplies I need?
The supplies Dr. Pagano recommends to his patients are available at Baar Products www.baar.com or at The Heritage Store www.heritagestore.com. Also, any well stocked health food store may carry these supplies. If you search a bit on www.amazon.com you may be pleasantly surprised at the number of supplies you will find available there. Yes, this treatment is good for all types of psoriasis - scalp psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, plaque psoriasis; guttate psoriasis; psoriasis of the hands, feet, fingernails, AND also for eczema if the patient works at it. Dr. Pagano has found in his experience that the causes of both psoriasis and eczema are basically the same therefore, the treatment is the same. Does it work on psoriatic arthritis?
Dr. Pagano has found that it does indeed! It may require a longer period of time and great discipline, but the rewards far outweigh the discipline required. In fact, in Dr. Pagano's experience with patients, the arthritis is often relieved before the skin lesions disappear. How does Dr. Pagano define psoriasis?
Dr. Pagano believes that in order to understand psoriasis, you must first be able to define it. His definition is: "Psoriasis is the external manifestation of the body's attempt to throw off internal toxins." It took you two seconds to read that, but it took Dr. Pagano 40-plus years to prove it!
